Anchored instruction provides a learning environment where specific skills are applied and developed. For example, educational software to help students develop math skills is developed by creating a digital treasure hunt that requires students to answer math problems before they can get their next clue to find the treasure.

You hooked studens in using what they know and what they already are interested in, in order to teach new concept. For example, if a child's passion is collecting baseball cards, then use that interest to teach arithmatic.
